technology of the 1960's
- April 1st 1960, the first weather satellite was launched into space. It was created by NASA.It didn't always look at Earth, which is neat because you can see the weather for other countries that you're not even near.
-November 10, 1961, the first computer game, called Spacewar, is invented. It was a two player game, where each player is in a spacecraft and you have to try and kill one another in the galaxy.
- January 10, 1963, the first lava lamp is created. Briton Walker created it in the United Kingdom.
- March 11, 1963, the first Easy Bake Ovens are created. It is a mini oven for kids. It comes with packets of cake mix when you buy the oven.
- May 13 1963, the first compact cassette was made. They are also known as music cassettes. They come in two forms, and you can usually flip the cassette over to listen to more music or whatever was on it. They contained portable audio recordings.
- May 16, 1963, the first laser was created. It was strong enough to cut through metal. It had an intense beam of light.
- January 9, 1967, the first hand-held calculator was invented. It could add, subtract, multipy, and divide. The case was made out of aluminum.
